Frequently Asked Questions

Arriving for class

Please arrive at least 5 minutes before the class starts to give yourself time to 'settle in' and not feel rushed. If it is your first time attending class, aim to arrive 10-15 minutes early to complete the registration form and discuss any areas of concern with your teacher. There are wall cubicles in the foyer of the studio to place your shoes and other personal items. Please make sure you remove your shoes as you enter the studio and turn your mobile phone off.

What should I wear?

Yoga: Wear loose comfortable clothing. For men and women, shorts or tracksuit pants and a t-shirt or singlet are ideal. Women can also wear leggings. The room is heated in winter and cooled in summer so the temperature remains comfortable during class. You might like to bring a jumper or warm top for our relaxation time. Socks and shoes are removed before class and the practice is done barefoot.

Meditation: Wear loose, comfortable, warm clothing. When meditating the body temperature will drop so it is important that you stay warm. We have blankets at the studio for use if you get cold.

What should I bring?

You don't need to bring anything! All equipment, including mats, is provided by the Just Be Studio. You are welcome to bring your own mat if preferred and it is recommended to bring a gym towel if you suffer from excess perspiration. All yoga equipment if available for purchase from the studio.

Eating and drinking before class:

Yoga is best practiced on an empty stomach. It is usually recommended not to eat 2-3 hours before class. Ensure that you keep hydrated throughout the day and you should not need to drink water during class. Drinking throughout the class is not recommended. For Prenatal and kids yoga classes it is recommended to eat and drink as required!

How do I register/pay for a class?

Please ensure that you register when attending for the first time or before the beginning of each new term (for those re-enrolling). Some of our classes are very busy and we do have limits on our class sizes. The timetable on the website will indicate if a class is full.

You can register for classes by telephoning or emailing Lesley directly or speaking to your teacher in class. You can also register online via the website. Please note that classes are not transferable. Payment options include:

• Cash
• Bank Transfer
• Cheque
• Credit Card (online via the website only)
Please note: We only take cash or cheque in the studio

What if I miss a class?

If you miss a weekly yoga class due to illness or unforeseen circumstances, it must be made up at another equivalent class during the term of enrolment.

How often should I attend Yoga Classes?

If you are a beginner to yoga then once a week is a good starting point to establish a regular practice. For maximum benefit it is recommended that you attend two or more classes a week.

What if I am suffering from injury or illness?

Many injuries and illnesses are greatly benefitted and improved by a regular yoga practice. It is essential that you consult a medical practitioner before commencing classes if you have serious injuries or illness. It is also important to ensure your Yoga Teacher is aware of any conditions that may impact your yoga practice.

When can I start Prenatal Yoga?

Prenatal yoga is a wonderful opportunity to stay healthy, strong and flexible during pregnancy and to connect with your baby. A Prenatal Yoga practice is generally safe to begin in the second trimester. It is not recommended that you practice yoga during weeks 11-13 of pregnancy.
