About the Workshop

This 3 hour workshop will begin with an introductory talk on Ashtanga Yoga and cover the foundations of Ashtanga including basic breathing techniques, bandhas, chanting and dristi. This will then lead into the physical practice of the Ashtanga asanas (poses) including sun salutations, standing poses, and more!

Come in your yoga gear and get ready to move!

What is Ashtanga Yoga

Ashtanga Yoga is a practice that creates strength, flexibility and stamina.It works with a continuous flow from pose to pose that creates heat which purifies and detoxifies the different body systems. Concentrating on the breath and core postural muscles during the practice makes the mind focused and calm. 

Ashtanga Yoga is an energetic form of Yoga that requires a basic level of fitness. It will not be suitable for people working with injuries.

About the Teacher

Jenni is a passionate yoga practitioner, qualified yoga teacher who sees the holistic benefits of yoga in all levels of life. She is the founder of Ihana Yoga (www.ihanayoga.com.au)

Jenni has trained as a yoga teacher in Mysore, India, and she has spent 6 months altogether in India and in the Himalayas of Nepal studying asana, pranayama, yogic philosophy, chanting and Vipassana meditation.

She went on to do the Advanced Yoga Teacher Training at the Australian Yoga Academy in Melbourne and continued anatomy studies with physiotherapist Simon Borg-Olivier. Jenni is also certified to teach by Knoff Yoga School.

She teaches Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga and Vinyasa Flow. In her yoga teaching Jenni combines the eastern yogic wisdom with the western anatomical knowledge to explain how students can activate their body’s own healing mechanisms.
